Nusa Lembongan

Between Bali and Lombok

We arrived on Nusa Lembongan by boat from Sanur/ Bali. The boat took about half an hour, but the whole trip took around 2,5 hours, including taxi ride, check-in, waiting time and boat ride. The island has two popular beach areas, where the boats drop you off: Mushroom bay and Jungut Batu. Since all the dive schools are in Jungut Batu, we spend most of our time there.

We came to Nusa Lembongan especially to dive with manta rays, which we did and therefore enjoyed our stay a lot. Jungut Baru is not a beautiful place, but if you rent a motorbike (which everyone does…), you can easily visit other beaches, the mangroves and Nusa Cenningan. It’s a green island with tourist spots and still a lot of nature.

Since we never book in advance, we just went there and looked at different homestays and hostels, before we decided to stay with Deany’s homestay, which is a basic room with fan or aircondition and a bathroom. It is very close to the dive shop we went diving with and there are many restaurants, warungs, shops and other hotels and homestays around.

Other accomodations we looked at and that looked nice are:

D and B (350.000 IDR, including breakfast, pool)

Deanys Homestay (150.000 IDR, basic room with fan)

Tropical Homestay 175.000 IDR, basic room with fan, sea front)

Krishna Homestay 250.000 IDR, standart new room, quite)

How much?!

To get to the island cost us 175.000 IDR (13€)/Pax including a pick up from the hotel in Kuta. We booked with Perama, which we can recommend because they are super friendly and cheap.

For the room we paid 150.000 IDR (10€)/night, not including breakfast. (Other options, see accomodations)

We had breakfast at different places near our homestay and paid aound 75.000 IDR for two fresh fruit shakes, pancake and omlette.

We usually have a small lu ch in a local warung that cost us around 50.000 IDR for two nasi campur, thats the typical local mix rice dish.

Dinner was mainly the same food as lunch but with beer (small 25.000 IDR – big 35.000 IDR) /or water or coke (10.000 IDR).

We rented a motor bike for a half day and paid 30.000 IDR.

Our daily budget on Nusa Lembongan was around 400.000 IDR, without diving.

For a 5-dive package we paid 1.800.000 IDR/pax and had to pay 150.000 IDR extra for manta point, and 30.000 IDR for a lunch box.

A motorbike trip to Nusa Cenningan

After two days of diving, we were curious about the rest of the island and rented a motorbike for the afternoon. We drove up the hill and over the yellow bridge to Nusa Cenningan. Here you can find nice viewpoint spots, also nice hotels (a little more expensive but more quite and relaxing, mostly wirh pool), bars and temples. We simply drove around and stopped where-ever we liked it. That’s how we ended up at Seabreeze Cenningan. Here we enjoyed a great atmosphere, a sunset-beer, a cold icetea (not sweet) and relaxed! On our way home we also wateched some locals playing Badminton and playing Gamelan in an former temple. The sun goes down early in these parts of the world, so we had an adventurous drive home in the dark.
